One of my shots for a fan community project for an episode of Lego Monkie Kid. I wanted to challenge myself both to use a different stylization in this shot as well as do a completely polished shot from start to finish. There are a few things I would do differently, but workshopping my animation pipeline for this project has already taught me a lot, and I expect I'll continue to figure out ways to refine my process as I complete my shot.
(Characters and audio are from Lego Monkie Kid Season 2, Episode 5: Minor Scale © the LEGO Group)
This was the first shot I did on this project, and the one that took the longest to finish. I decided early on that I wanted to try animating in a new style with proportions closer to realism. This, and the other shot I worked on were both completed using Clip Studio Paint for the animation and background art, and composited using After Effects.

The next sequence I worked on were these 3 shots. For this one I also animated some additional layers of shadow and lighting on the character to match the scene, which was an enjoyable challenge.

This was the final shot I did for the Mina and the Count: Reanimated projectI used Blender's grease pencil software for the rough animation, and completed the rest of the shot in Adobe Animate and lastly After Effects

For this shot, I decided to use it as an opportunity to learn some rigged animation in Toon Boom Harmony. I spent at least a week beforehand watching as many tutorials on the program and making + animating a rig before signing up for the free trial version of the software and jumping into it.As well as Toon Boom, I also used Clip Studio Paint to animate the fire effects

This was the first shot I did for this project, and the only one that had a single-program pipeline (Clip Studio Paint)

Character Design and Model Sheets
My graduating thesis film; a short and simple story about an unlikely friendship.
This project was a fantastic learning experience regarding organizing a production pipeline sticking to it. I was successful in putting together a pipeline of animation methods that I could use efficiently in the circumstances I found myself in that particular year (in my mother's house, hiding from the plague and completing my thesis film in her basement).I used a combination of traditional animation with 2D animation software and Adobe programs, and attempted to complete a new stage in the pipeline for a shot as well as start animating at least one additional shot each week.

My shot for the Wander Over Yonder: Reanimated projectAll character animation was done in Clip Studio Paint and I then did additional compositing with After Effects.

Tiedown Animation
This was a project I did because I wanted to try animating a 2D character in a 3D environment, as well as practicing keeping the character on-model while drawing. This shot was animated with Blender Grease Pencil

A short 3-week assignment for a class with Michael Show at LCAD, I used one of my original characters and aimed for a sense of motion and rhythm that matched the song I chose.

Hi there, I'm Kat!
I'm a 2D Animator and Story Artist from the East Coast now based in Portland Oregon who tries to spend as much of my time as I can working on character animation projects and improving my skills. I've worked as a freelance animator, independently on personal projects, and somewhat recently as a member of Team Mink Inc for the Creator's Society Creator Jam last April, where our short film took 2nd place and was voted Audience Favorite! Currently my team and I are working on completing the short.
As you might expect, I like to watch movies and TV, and am especially a sucker for animated media (I love that we're getting animated productions aimed at adults now). I also enjoy listening to various music genres, reading, looking at memes and old vines, petting the local black cat (despite being allergic - no regrets), embroidery at times, and chatting with friends, neighbors, and coworkers!I'm aspiring to be able to work with fellow creatives at a studio either in an animator or story artist capacity, and while I pursue that goal I'll continue seeking out projects for myself to work on. The real trick isn't deciding what I want to do - it's picking what I want to do first.
